विष्णु सहस्रनाम
विष्णु सहस्रनाम भगवान विष्णु के हजार नामों से युक्त एक प्रमुख स्तोत्र है। यह हिन्दू धर्म में सबसे पवित्र तथा प्रचलित स्तोत्रों में से एक है। महाभारत में उपलब्ध विष्णु सहस्रनाम इसका सबसे लोकप्रिय संस्करण है। पद्म पुराण व मत्स्य पुराण में इसका एक और संस्करण उपलब्ध है। प्रत्येक नाम विष्णु के अनगिनत गुणों में से कुछ गुणों को सूचित करता है। कई हिंदु परिवारों मे पूजन के समय इसका पठन करते है। इसके सुनने या पठन से मनुष्य की मनोकामनाएँ पूर्ण होने की मान्यता है।
अनुशासनपर्व (महाभारत) के १४९ वें अध्याय के अनुसार, कुरुक्षेत्र मे बाणों की शय्या पर लेटे पितामह भीष्म ने युधिष्ठिर को इसका उपदेश दिया था।
उत्पत्ति
कुरुक्षेत्र युद्ध मे हुई विनाश देख धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर विचलित हुए। बाणों की शय्या पर लेटे भीष्म भी अपने प्राण त्यागने की प्रतीक्षा करते थे। समय उचित पाकर भगवान वेदव्यास और श्रीकृष्ण ने युधिष्ठिर को समाकालीन सर्वोच्च ज्ञानी भीष्म से धर्म व नीति के विषय मे उपदेश लेने की प्रेरणा दी। अपने सभी भाई समेत कृष्ण को साथ लिए युधिष्ठिर पितामह भीष्म के पास पहुँच कर उनका नमन किया और धर्म व नीति के विषय मे विचार करते किए प्रश्न व भीष्म का विवरण सहित उत्तर ही यह सहस्रनाम स्तोत्र है।
स्तोत्रभाग
इस स्तोत्र के तीन प्रमुख भागों को निम्न भागों मे दिया गया है।
पूर्व पीठिका
इसमे सर्वप्रथम गणेश, विष्वक्सेन, वेदव्यास तथा विष्णु का नमन किया जाता है।
इसके बाद युधिष्ठिर के प्रश्न है:
- किमेकं दैवतं लोके किं वाप्येकं परायणम्।
- स्तुवन्तः कं कमर्चन्तः प्राप्नुयुर्मानवाः शुभम् ॥
अर्थ :
- सभी लोकों में सर्वोत्तम देवता कौन है?
- संसारी जीवन का लक्ष्य क्या है?
- किसकी स्तुति व अर्चन से मानव का कल्याण होता है?
- सबसे उत्तम धर्म कौनसा है?
- किसके नाम जपने से जीव को संसार के बंधन से मुक्ति मिलती है?
इसके उत्तर में भीष्मजी ने कहा,"जगत के प्रभु, देवों के देव, अनंत व पुरूषोत्तम विष्णु के सहस्रनाम के जपने से, अचल भक्ति से, स्तुति से, आराधना से, ध्यान से, नमन से मनुष्य को संसार के बंधन से मुक्ति मिलती है। यही सर्वोत्तम धर्म है।"
इसके बाद ऋषि, देवादि संकल्प तथा परमात्मा का ध्यान किया जाता है।
सहस्रनाम
इस भाग मे विश्वं से आरंभ सर्वप्रहरणायुध तक सभी सहस्र (१०००) नामों को १०७ श्लोकों मे सम्मिलित किया गया है। परमात्मा के आनंत रूप, स्वभाव, गुण व नामों में से सहस्र नामों को इसमें लिया गया है।
