Parameters

Infobox television season parameters and basic guidelines

Field name	Type	Description	Values
season_name	required	Season name. The series title will be automatically italicised. Only necessary if the complete season name cannot be created with the follow four parameters.	plain text
show_name	required	Show name. The name of the show.	plain text
season_qualifier	required	Season qualifer. For cases where disambiguation (typically of the show's origin country) before the season type is required (e.g. the season qualifier for The Apprentice (U.S. season 2) is U.S.).	plain text
season_type	required	Season type. To determine the usage of the word "season" for American-based shows, or "series" for shows using British-English.	plain text
season_number	required	Season number. The Xth season of this particular show. This number is also used to generate links for the previous and next seasons, if applicable.	number
bgcolour	optional	Six-digit hex code used to colour header rows. Must include a hash symbol (#) before the code. e.g. #81a6e3. The contrast between background and foreground colors, if used, must meet the guidelines at WP:COLOR.	hex code
image		A suitable image. The image does not need to be wikilinked and should exclude "File:" e.g. Example.png and underscores should not replace spaces. Typically the image will be DVD cover art, although this is not mandated. Free content should be used where available.	raw image name excluding "File:"
image_upright		Use of this parameter is preferred to using "image_size", as it allows autosizing of images according to user preferences. By default the infobox image scales to upright=1, which is 220 px if the default thumbnail size has not been changed at Special:Preferences) The size should not be set to a value that would result in an image width greater than 300px.	raw number

released		Date all episodes for the season were released, generally for those airing on streaming media sites such as Netflix, using साँचा:tl. e.g. {{Start date|2011|9|23}} or {{Start date|2011|9|23|df=y}}	date formatted using साँचा:tl. Use "साँचा:para", when appropriate, to show "23 May" instead of "May 23,".
first_aired		Date the season commenced airing, using साँचा:tl. e.g. {{Start date|2011|9|23}} or {{Start date|2011|9|23|df=y}} Only insert the date after it has happened.	date formatted using साँचा:tl. Use "साँचा:para" when appropriate.
last_aired		Date the season finished airing, using साँचा:tl. e.g. {{End date|2012|5|17}} or {{End date|2012|5|17|df=y}} While the season is airing, {{End date|present}} should be used.	date formatted using साँचा:tl. "साँचा:para".
prev_season or prev_series	optional, desirable	If one exists, this field should include a wikilink to the previous season in the series. If no season article exists (a redirect is not an article), this field should be left blank. Only required if the previous season link cannot be automatically generated by the template using the "season_number" variable. (e.g. Road Rules: South Pacific)	wikitext, should include a wikilink to the appropriate article.
next_season or next_series		If one exists, this field should include a wikilink to the next season in the series. If no season article exists (a redirect is not an article), this field should be left blank. Only required if the next season link cannot be automatically generated by the template using the "season_number" variable. (e.g. Road Rules: South Pacific)
episode_list		If one exists, this field should include the name of the main episode list article for the series. If no article exists, this field should be left blank. Wikilinking is not required. The article name will be formatted and wikilinked automatically by the infobox. For example साँचा:para will result in List of NCIS episodes.	plain text, should not be wikilinked.
The following fields are not for general use. They are only to be used in articles that previously used forks of this template that have been deleted or are otherwise no longer used and even then, they are only to be used to replace parameters that existed in the forked templates. Controlling line-breaking in embedded bulletless lists

Template साँचा:tlx may be used with साँचा:tlx and साँचा:tlx to control line-breaking in bulletless lists embedded in the infobox (e.g. cast and other credits lists), to prevent wrapped long entries from being confused with multiple entries. See Template:Wbr/doc#Controlling line-breaking in infoboxes for details.

The following table provides an approximate conversion from a "px" value, to an "image_upright" value based on a default thumbnail setting of 220px.

Articles that use custom fields are added to साँचा:cl and articles that use WP:COLOR-violating colour combinations are added to साँचा:cl.

Microformat

The HTML mark up produced by this template includes an hCalendar microformat, which makes the event details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to a calendar or diary application. Dates will only be included if you use साँचा:tl or साँचा:tl (use the former for single dates; but do not use any of these if the date is before 1583 CE).
